June 2020 Newsletter

Dear All,

We hope this letter finds you well. These past few months have been overwhelming with all the changes due to the COVID-19 crisis. This virus has disproportionately affected the special needs community in many ways, from putting people with a variety of health conditions at a higher risk to drastically changing school and college for millions of students. In this hard time, we want you to know that we are here for you. We will continue to share resources to help our community through the uncertainties of this virus every Thursday. If you know of any tools our community can benefit from, please contact us via DM or email us at specialneedsspecialpeople4@gmail.com. Sharing these tools will help us get through together.

We would also like to convey our deepest condolences to the families of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the many others who have been victims of police brutality. At Special Needs Special People, we condemn all acts of discrimination and take an active stand against it. We believe that everyone is valuable in their own way and deserve to be treated with the utmost respect. We believe that Black Lives Matter, and we stand by the words of the great MLK: “injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

These times show us how much work we have to foster inclusion, and Special Needs Special People remains committed to our mission. We will always stand with you and for you. Together, let us support each other, raise awareness, and always tackle discrimination with love. We believe that you are all fantastic people, and we can achieve inclusion when we work together.

We are sending you all our love and best wishes. Be well. Stay safe.

Love from,

The Special Needs Special People Team
